Typical Small Business IT Environment

Business Scenario

The business has 3 sales reps, 2 order processing staff, 2 warehousing staff, a bookkeeper, and the owner is responsible for merchandising and purchasing and sells a small range of consumer products to retail outlets and a national. The sales reps each cover their assigned territory and 2 of the 3  reps are located in different cities working out of their own homes.

All sales reps have an iPhone and laptops which they use to show products and take orders. The business operates a accounting system with inventory and sales order capabilities. 

Infrastructure

Most small offices would operate a wireless local area network with a number of networked multifunction printers. One or more servers would operate as application and file servers.
